MEET Dr. Desai

Dr. Desai is a board eligible Oral and Maxillofacial Surgeon. She is originally from Albany, NY, and grew up with a strong sense of family and an appreciation for the importance of meaningful connections. Inspired by her father, an anesthesiologist, she was drawn to the field of surgery early on, captivated by its complexity and the ability to make a real difference in people’s lives. She has fond memories of spending time with her extended family in the Westfield area, and through these experiences, developed an admiration for the tight-knit community

Dr. Desai graduated as an Oral and Maxillofacial Surgeon from New York Presbyterian Hospital – Weill Cornell Medical Center, where she served as chief resident. She earned her dental degree, DMD, from the Harvard School of Dental Medicine in Boston, MA. Prior to this, she completed her undergraduate studies in the Special Program in Dental Medicine at the University of Connecticut’s Honors College.
Dr. Desai is committed to staying on the cutting edge of surgical technology and practices with a patient-centered approach. She enjoys mentoring and believes in the power of collaboration and continuous learning. She understands the importance of making her patients feel at ease, ensuring that they fully understand their treatment plan and have confidence in their care. Her clinical interests include implantology, bone regeneration, wisdom tooth extractions, and management of temporomandibular joint disorders. She will hold hospital privileges nearby to manage complex cases requiring inpatient care.

Outside of work, Dr. Desai enjoys running, dancing to Bollywood beats, and exploring new cuisines through travel. She’s also a fan of Manhattan’s diverse restaurant scene and always welcomes the opportunity to enjoy a sweet treat.

Known for her enthusiasm, communication, and attention to detail, Dr. Desai is excited to join the team at the Center for Oral and Facial Surgery and work alongside Dr. Rutner. She looks forward to connecting with patients and colleagues alike, contributing to a compassionate and dynamic environment, and building relationships based on trust and care.
